A Little Bit of Everything: Our Ireland Adventure
There’s something about Ireland that feels both grounding and magical at the same time—and our recent trip captured every bit of that spirit. From the buzz of the city to quiet family moments in the countryside, it was the kind of trip that leaves you full (literally and figuratively) and already dreaming about going back.
Dublin: A Lively Start
We kicked things off in Dublin, where we spent three days soaking in the energy of the city. It was the perfect introduction—walkable, welcoming, and full of character.
We packed in a lot during our time there, including a fantastic food tour that gave us a true taste of the city. Of course, no trip to Dublin is complete without a stop at the iconic Guinness Storehouse, where the views from the Gravity Bar were just as memorable as the pint itself.
Jeff, meanwhile, made it his personal mission to sample fish and chips daily—no complaints here. One of the most unexpected highlights? He got pulled into a live band performance at a pub. Completely unplanned, completely unforgettable, and one of those moments you just can’t replicate.
A Scenic Ride North
From Dublin, we hopped on a train to Belfast—and the journey itself ended up being one of the highlights of the trip. The first stretch runs right along the coast, with sweeping views of the Irish Sea that made it hard to look away for even a second.
Belfast: History That Stays With You
After arriving in Belfast, we dove straight into a black taxi political tour—an experience that was as powerful as it was eye-opening. Learning about The Troubles firsthand, while standing in the very neighborhoods where history unfolded, was incredibly intense and deeply moving. It’s one of those experiences that sticks with you long after you leave.
Ballyclare: Family, Celebration & Cozy Moments
From Belfast, my “new” cousin Jacques scooped us up and brought us to his beautiful home just outside of Ballyclare—and this is where the trip slowed down in the best possible way.
The next few days were filled with family time, laughter, and celebrating my cousin Nani’s wedding. There were plenty of bubbles, lots of cozy moments, and that warm, easy rhythm that comes from being surrounded by people you love (even if some of them are newly discovered family).
A Round of Golf… Irish Style
While Jeff didn’t get the chance to golf in Northern Ireland thanks to the weather, he did manage to squeeze in a round just outside Dublin—and it turned into a story in itself.
In true Irish fashion, he experienced sun, wind, rain, and even hail… all in a single round. If that’s not the full Ireland golf experience, I don’t know what is.
Final Thoughts
Ireland gave us a little bit of everything—city energy, breathtaking scenery, deep history, and meaningful family time. It was equal parts adventure and connection, and one of those trips that feels both full and fleeting at the same time.
We came home with great memories, a few great stories (especially Jeff’s), and a strong feeling that this won’t be our last visit.
